Project Role: UI Designer
Duration: Mar-Aug 2024
Overview...
I recently designed the user interface for a new service for the company TieTek. The desktop app allows clients to easily set up AI 'Assistants' to help their staff and customers through conversational AI interfaces that are trained in their specific niche, such as technical support. My role in this project was to take their wireframes and create something visually appealing with a modern tech aesthetic, taking into account the existing branding, accessibility and user-friendliness.
I used Figma and Illustrator to create this high-fidelity desktop app user interface prototype for the developers to implement, I created a mini design system to go along with my design so that the creators could easily apply changes to the screens or add new ones entirely whenever they needed.

Starting Off...
I started by looking at the initial designs made by the owners and talking through the functions and navigation with them. Once I was confident in the system and navigation I took a look at their branding and colour scheme to see what elements I could implement in the app design. They wanted to stick with their brand colours which are teal and grey.
The wireframes and content they had provided me with:

Earlier Versions...
I initially took the wireframes provided and played around with adding some colour. I slowly added more versions and elements to the design which finally built into what I ended with.
From my research and the reference provided by the creators I found that many other tech/AI companies use dark bases with bold colours as accents. As this was a style the creators where interested in I started playing around with a darker colour scheme, adding in variations or greys and teal greens.
I played around with collapsing menus, icons, spacing, composition and other elements. The company wanted to use Material Design Kit 3 as their standards so that the design was cohesive.

Overall...
This was a super fun project to be involved in and I learned a lot from the experience it provided me as a young designer. It was a very different style than I usually create so that was fun to explore, it was also good to work to a client brief and achieve a reality for what they envisioned.
Here is the Asset Board/Design System I created for the app:
